If you would like to see a specialist privately, we may be able to provide a referral letter to support this.
Please be aware that a private referral does not automatically mean that the practice will be able to prescribe any medication recommended by the private specialist. Any request for ongoing prescribing will need to be reviewed by your GP and considered in line with NHS guidance, local prescribing policies, and what is clinically appropriate for your care.
Likewise we will not be able to take over monitoring of medication prescribed by specialists.
In some cases, we may be able to take over prescribing or enter into a shared care arrangement with the specialist. However, in other situations, prescriptions may need to continue to be provided by the private specialist.
