Teresa is a Physicians Associate (PA) who has joined us in a full time capacity from a GP surgery in South London. She completed an undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences and then a PA degree and has been working in the surgery in Greenwich for over a year.
General Practice Physician Associates work in GP surgeries as part of the medical healthcare team alongside the multi-professional teams.
The PA role in general practice includes:
- Acute on the day emergency clinics and routine follow up appointments
- Trained to safely and independently initiate medication and would need a prescriber to sign off the initiated medication request.
- Managing pathology reports, interpreting blood test results, ultrasound scans and X-Rays.
- Actioning any requests on hospital letters/discharge summaries/care plans received.
